Homeowners Trish Holder and Mark Raines are thrilled with the kitchen countertops in their Greenspiration Home. This unique, "green" showcase home features Dupont™ Zodiaq Terra countertops, fabricated and installed by Carolina Custom Surfaces. The countertops have stood up wonderfully to the typical abuses of a busy family. The owners love the fact that they are a North American-sourced product. With recycled content, they are an excellent (and more durable) alternative to granite, most of which is imported from overseas. The award-winning, LEED registered Greenspiration Home was completed in January 2009. Throughout the building process and beyond, the homeowners shared their green building experience through an educational website, a series of Nature Nurture Day open house tours, and numerous published articles. The home has been featured in magazines and on TV. It incorporates many energy-efficient and sustainable products and technologies, including locally sourced building materials and decor, a geothermal heat pump, water-saving fixtures and appliances, and much more.
